We will be having our Annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Sharon Country Club. It is a best ball style of play and we can have 18 teams of 4 people. On Saturday June 28th, we will be having a parade to celerbrate our 125th anniversary. The parade will start at 5:30 PM. The route will start at the Clock tower at the intersection of Route 41, Route 4 and Route 343.

Today we took part in the 4th annual muster. There were eight teams competing today: North Canaan, Falls Village, Barkhamsted over 60, Cornwall, New Marlbough, the all ladies team from Pleasant Valley and us.

On Saturday morning, crews from Sharon, Cornwall, Canaan and Wassiac,NY gathered to do some room and contents fires and finally burn the building down. Sharon Utility 2 was placed on the back lawn in case any fire spread to the brush in the rear of the building.

On Tuesday evening, Units from Sharon, Cornwall and North Canaan practiced venting the roof. Sharon's Tower 1 was set up on the road and vented the road side roof. North Canaan's Ladder 1 was set up in the driveway and vented the rear of the front section and the rear section roof.

Burning Index
Updated Spring 2020 : For the time being: You may call the office at 860-364-0909 and register for a one month burning permit. Two indexes are required to be checked each day in order to Burn - the Air Quality Index and the Burning (Forest Fire) index. A Burn days required that it be clear to partly cloudy with winds not more than 15 mph. You must call each day to plan to burn at 860-364-0909. Connecticut allows burning when conditions are right all year long. Note that NY State has a burn ban from March 16 - May 14th.
LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
The Sharon Fire Department and Ambulance Squad are looking for new members. There is an online application for joining (see member application above). The Fire Department is looking for firetruck drivers - pump operators, exterior and interior firefighters. The ambulance is looking for drivers, MRT's and EMT's. Both the ambulance and fire department will pay for training and gear. It is very rewarding to give back to the community and be with a wonderful group of very dedicated volunteers.
