Sharon Fire responded mutual aid to Millbrook, NY Tuesday evening for a propane fire. LCD dispatched the call for a tanker to respond to the scene of a 1000 gallon propane tank on fire. Engine 3 and Sharon firefighters responded to the scene on Shale Road in Millbrook. The fire broke out at about 7:30 when an excavator ruptured the tank. A nearby burning brush pile ignited the tank. Millbrook set up monitors and poured water on the surrounding area, careful not to put out the fire. Firefighters from Wassaic, Sharon,, Pleasant Valley and Union Vale assisted Millbrook at the scene. The fire burned throughout the night for nearly 12 hours until the fuel load expired. Sharon was released after Millbrook was able to set up an active water supply from a nearby water source.
