LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS

The Sharon Fire Department and Ambulance Squad are looking for new members. There is an online application for joining (see member application above). The Fire Department is looking for firetruck drivers - pump operators, exterior and interior firefighters. The ambulance is looking for drivers, MRT's and EMT's. Both the ambulance and fire department will pay for training and gear. It is very rewarding to give back to the community and be with a wonderful group of very dedicated volunteers.

SFD Responds To Multiple "Tree On Wires" Calls
Mon. Mar 15th 2010

Sharon Fire Department responded to many calls this past weekend for storm damage from high winds. The calls started around noon on Saturday. The call volume escalated around 8:30pm Saturday evening with many calls for trees on wires. The calls continued throughout the night, closing several roads in the area. The most impressive of these calls occcurred Sunday morning at the intersection of Route 4 and Old Sharon Road #1 where a tree fell on the primaries and completely blocked the road. The pictures of this scene show the dangers of high voltage power lines. There is also a short video in the video gallery.
