We are sorry to report the Derby has been postponed this year due to the condition of the road and our 125th anniversary parade. Please check back next year.

The Sharon Fire Department and Ambulance Squad are looking for new members. There is an online application for joining (see member application above). The Fire Department is looking for firetruck drivers - pump operators, exterior and interior firefighters. The ambulance is looking for drivers, MRT's and EMT's. Both the ambulance and fire department will pay for training and gear. It is very rewarding to give back to the community and be with a wonderful group of very dedicated volunteers.

Burning Index

Updated:  April 10, 2014:    Spring is a difficult time to find an acceptable day to burn.  High index days (Burning Index) are common.  Two indexes are required to be checked daily - the Air Quality Index and the Burning Index.  Burning days are when both indexes are acceptable.  If the Air Quality Index for any town in CT is over 70, you may not burn.  These are State of CT regulations.  You may burn if it is clear to party cloudy with winds not more than 15 mph in your area...both indexes must be acceptable.  You must have a valid permit.  Call 860-364-0909 AFTER 8 AM to report that you are burning.  LCD website have the links for both indexes. Questions may also be directed to that number.
